Femtech company Clue, known for its app focused on menstrual cycle tracking and reproductive health, has announced a new partnership with digital mental health provider Headspace. Through this collaboration, members of Clue Plus, Clue’s subscription service, will receive a 50% discount on Headspace subscriptions. This partnership aims to enhance the mental health and mindfulness support available to Clue Plus Members, particularly focusing on how different stages of the menstrual cycle can impact stress levels.

Clue’s services range from period tracking to pregnancy monitoring, and this partnership enriches its offerings by incorporating Headspace’s expertise in mental health. This collaboration is expected to provide targeted assistance not only for cycle tracking but also for users who are navigating life stages such as pregnancy, fertility, and menopause. By integrating Clue’s sophisticated cycle tracking and forecasting with Headspace’s mental wellness resources, the partnership proposes to support members in dealing with stress and everyday anxieties related to significant life transitions such as conception, pregnancy, and entering perimenopause.

According to Clue’s Chief Product Officer, Rhiannon White, the combination of Clue’s and Headspace’s services will guide members through the varied changes in their cycle, helping them manage stress-related challenges effectively.

Overview of Clue’s Growth and Market Presence:
Since its inception, Clue has made significant advances in the femtech industry. In 2013, the company secured €16 million ($17.5 million) in funding to launch its app in the U.S. Around this time, Clue’s founder, Ida Tin, stepped down, passing the leadership role to co-CEOs Audrey Tsang and Carrie Walter. Clue continued its upward trajectory by raising $7 million in 2015 and an additional $2 million in the same year. The momentum continued in 2016 with the company securing $20 million in a Series B funding round.

An important milestone was achieved in 2021 when Clue received FDA 510(k) clearance for Clue Birth Control, an innovative digital contraceptive based on period tracking data. Expanding its technological reach, the company also partnered with Finland-based Oura, known for its health-tracking ring. This partnership was aimed at melding Clue’s menstrual health tracking with Oura’s biometric sensing capabilities, thereby enhancing personal health management and advancing research in female health.

Further, in 2022, Clue successfully raised an additional €7 million ($7.6 million). These series of fundings and strategic partnerships underscore Clue’s sustained growth and its commitment to enhancing female reproductive health through technology.

Additionally, Headspace, Clue’s new partner, also recently announced a partnership with Spring Fertility, a network of fertility clinics. This venture is designed to offer individuals facing family-building challenges access to Headspace’s mental health services, thereby widening the scope of support for mental and emotional well-being during such critical periods.

Overall, these developments reflect a growing commitment within the femtech and digital health sectors to not only support physical health but also to address the often-overlooked mental health aspects associated with reproductive health and life transformations. Clue and Headspace’s partnership represents a fusion of expertise from both domains, aiming to offer a holistic approach to health that considers the intricate connections between physical changes and mental health states during different phases of the menstrual cycle and major life events.
